M. Basilea Schlink
Mother Basilea Schlink PhD was the founder of the Evangelical Sisterhood of Mary, which has its origins in Germany and today has branches worldwide. A prolific writer with translations in over 60 languages, she died in 2001 having dedicated her life to spreading the love of Jesus and sharing her prophetic insights into the ways of God.
Mother Basilea’s dedication to her teachings was strongly tested under the Nazi regime when, as the national president of the women’s wing of the Christian Student Movement, she advocated against discrimination of students from a Jewish background.
For her proclamation that Christ, not Hitler, was the true leader, she was twice summoned before the Gestapo.
In 1963, during a visit to Mount Sinai, God laid a clear burden on Mother Basilea about the increasing global disregard for God’s commandments. In response, she felt called to intercede and began sending her spiritual daughters into the world to establish new branches and demonstrate how God’s commandments could be lived out in love.
The Evangelical Sisterhood of Mary continues to deliver practical, life-giving ways of connecting to Jesus across the world, with the Australian branch, Canaan of God’s Comfort, extending its services to New Zealand, South-East Asia and the Pacific Islands.
