Tosan Gregory Jemide

Beginning as an at-home assistant to his mum, Tosan Jemide has spent over two decades as a highly reputed creative whose pioneering cake artistry radicalised the baking profession in Africa. Most recently, he has been selected as a judge for the 2026 Season of MasterChef Nigeria. His first book, Sugar Icing: A Story of Grit and Glory, captures his journey to the top.

But behind his success were truths few saw: long nights, relentless pressure and a strength that amounted to silence. Tosan didn’t crash in one dramatic moment. He slowly unraveled until burnout took everything he thought defined him.

In the following quiet, he returned to the one place that had always held him: the kitchen. Flour. Dough. Breath. Presence. Baking became recovery, a ritual that steadied his mind and softened his pace, ultimately reopening his life.

From this rebirth came Let’s Bake It, a leadership and wellbeing movement that uses baking as a tool for reflection, resilience and reconnection. It also inspired his new book, Your Team Kneads You, which foregrounds humanity and courage as the path towards slowing down, unmasking and leading with intention.

Today, Tosan travels across communities and boardrooms speaking with humility and honesty, not as an expert looking down but as a fellow human who has walked through fire and found a gentler way back. His story is simple: burnout brought him low, baking helped him rise. Now he helps others do the same.

Your Team Kneads You

by Tosan Gregory Jemide

Burnout does not start with exhaustion…it begins when we start pretending that we are fine even when we are not.

Amidst clouds of flour and the churning of bread mixers in his bakery in Lagos, Nigeria, Tosan Jemide tasted the coppery tang of burnout. The long seasons of holding his breath and of propping up the room were over. The version of himself that had been slowly crumbling through his fingers had finally collapsed.

Your Team Kneads You is not a celebration of resilience; it is an invitation to return to yourself.

Inside these pages, you will find the quiet truths leaders often hide: emotional erosion, silent burnout, the pressure to perform and the fear of slowing down. Tosan’s journey mimics the simple rhythms of baking, combining all the right ingredients to offer a form of leadership rooted in presence, honesty and pace.

This is not a manual but a mirror. A reminder that you do not need to break to be taken seriously. A companion for leaders in business and in life who want to breathe, feel and rise again without losing themselves in the process.

Slow down. Mix well. Lead better.

Your team doesn’t need a perfect leader. They need a whole one.
